Inactivity Monitoring

Falls are the principal cause of injury leading to hospital admission among the over-65s in the UK. It is estimated that one in three people aged 65 and over experience a fall at least once a year, rising to one in two among those over 80 years old. Inactivity monitoring can provide an essential element of a falls detection solution in order to minimise the effect of a fall on a victim by reducing the delay in providing medical treatment.

Inactivity monitoring works by having one or more PIR's (movement sensors) in the house. The PIR's will be picking up movement every time the occupant moves and sending the signal back to the lifeline alarm. If no movement is detected within a set time period (12 or 24 hours) then it will send a call through to the control centre, the call operator will then take the relevant action to ensure the client is safe.
